Bookings & how LotSpot works
How does booking a spot work?
A food truck requests a date at a listed space (or a host invites a truck directly). The other side approves, counters with different terms, or declines. Once both agree, whoever pays completes payment through LotSpot and the booking is confirmed. After the date passes, both sides can review each other.
What are the three arrangement types?
Free night — no money changes hands for the spot; the truck keeps all its sales and pays LotSpot a $10 booking fee. Truck pays a lot fee — the truck pays the host for the spot (premium locations, pods, fairs). Host pays the truck — the host pays an appearance fee to guarantee a truck shows up. Every listing sets a default, and every booking can negotiate away from it.
Can I book multiple dates or a recurring spot?
Yes. A single request can cover up to 7 dates, or you can propose a lease: a fixed term paid upfront (e.g., monthly × 6) or an open-ended arrangement paid period by period until either side ends it.
How do event bookings work?
Organizers post events and trucks apply — or organizers browse the truck directory and invite a truck directly. Events use the same three money directions: the organizer pays the truck (catering/appearance), nobody pays (truck sells to attendees), or trucks pay a slot fee (fairs and festivals).
Fees & payments
What does LotSpot cost?
Joining, listing, browsing, and messaging are free. LotSpot earns only when a booking transacts: 15% on lot fees (3% from the truck, 12% from the host side), 10% commission on host-paid appearance and event fees, and a flat $2.50–$10 booking fee on small or free bookings (capped at $10, so small daily fees are never eaten by percentages).
How do payouts work?
Payments run through Stripe. Connect a bank account from your dashboard (takes ~3 minutes) and payouts land there automatically after each paid booking — hosts receive lot fees, trucks receive appearance and event fees, organizers receive slot fees.
When is my card charged?
Only after both sides have agreed and the booking is approved. For fixed-term leases the whole term is paid upfront; open-ended leases are paid period by period.
Cancellations
What is the cancellation policy?
Each listing sets its own policy, shown before you book. Flexible: full refund up to 24 hours before; Moderate: full refund up to 72 hours before, 50% after; Strict: 50% refund up to 7 days before. Weather cancellations are always fully refunded. Contact us for help with any cancellation.
Account & roles
Can I be both a host and a vendor?
Yes — one account can hold the host, vendor, and organizer roles. Use the Roles menu on your dashboard to add a role and the switcher to flip between views. Your reviews and history carry across all of them.
How does messaging work?
Use the Message buttons on any truck, space, or event page to start a conversation. Your inbox lives under Messages in the navigation, with unread indicators on your dashboard. Keep bookings and payments on LotSpot — that's what builds the review history that wins you more business.
